BackgroundGreg Scull was born in Washington, D.C. and raised in the Virginia and Maryland suburbs surrounding the area. He attended the University of Maryland and graduated with a B.S. degree in Industrial Technology. He has undertaken graduate studies at University College and Virginia Tech University. In 1987, Mr. Scull formed Miamika Associates with several business partners. The formation of the company was centered on the idea of growing a business over a lifetime using the assets, experience and connections of the associates. The associates literally gave up their spare spending to invest in the corporation. Thus, a working capital development fund was established and Miamika Associates was born. Today there are ten (10) associates directly attributing financially to the success of the company and an additional thirty (30) non-financial contributing associates that work on a project-by-project basis. Mr. Scull has developed his skills in general management and serves as the President and C.E.O. of Miamika Associates. His work has been in the areas of market development, business planning, finance, research & development, engineering, contract and project management for a variety of components, products and systems for commercial and defense markets, both domestically and internationally. Believing in the idea of giving back to the community, Mr. Scull has been involved in various non-profit organizations stemming from his early college involvement with the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. This early experience propelled him to serve in his later years with Kiwanis International and the National Contract Management Association both as a member and officer of local chapters. Mr. Scull served as a Director and President of the Christiansburg & Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce. He is actively serving as a Director and Vice President of the Christiansburg Institute, Inc. Mr. Scull’s association with manufacturing stems from ancestral ties to the Phoenix Ironworks of Ashtabula, Ohio which was owned by his Great Grandfather, Charles Otis Tinker from 1873 until the 1907 when he retired. The Phoenix Ironworks produced products and Machinery for major corporations during the Industrial Revolution. In keeping with this tradition, Miamika Associates is committed to playing a vital role in the technology revolution of the 21st century. |
